Community Partnering
The Kype Muir Community Partnership is supported by the following financial commitments:
- Total contribution of 1.5 per cent of the gross annual revenue generated by the wind farm
- Underwritten by a Guaranteed Minimum Payment, based on £5,000 per MW installed (index linked)
Installed Capacity – 88.4MW
Lifecycle 1.5% gross revenue* – £16,376,000
Annual Average of 1.5% gross revenue* – £655,040
Annual Guaranteed Min (£5,000 per MW) – £442,000
Lifecycle Guaranteed Min (£5,000 per MW) – £11,530,000
The development also see’s the role out of Connect2Renewables, an initiative between the communities, Banks Renewables and South Lanarkshire Council that seeks to maximise the social and economic benefit of the development to the local area. This will be achieved through:
- Commitments from us to deliver a certain percentage of the contracted construction value to companies local to the site
- The community partnering proposal set out above
- It is proposed that over the first five years of the wind farms operation a minimum of £2,500 per MW per annum taken from the overall community benefit package is placed into an employability initiative to be administered by South Lanarkshire Council for the benefit of the communities of Strathaven, Stonehouse, Lesmahagow and Sandford and Upper Avondale. This fund would be created to help provide opportunities for local people to gain workplace learning placements aimed at improving their employment credentials
