What is happening next?
Banks Renewables has now submitted a planning application under Section 36 of the Electricity Act 1989 to the Scottish Government Energy Consents Unit (ECU) seeking consent for Bodinglee Wind Farm. This application also applies for a direction under Section 57(2) of the Town and Country Planning (Scotland) Act 1997 for planning permission for the development to be deemed granted.
Any persons wishing to make formal representations should do so by contacting the ECU on their website, by email or by post, quoting the application reference ECU00004839. Full contact details are available www.energyconsents.scot.

Key stats & layout
Bodinglee will be able to deploy the latest in high efficiency renewable technology. With modest increases in size, the current technology is able to produce over 7MW per turbine – enough electricity for 5,000 households.
This allows a smaller site to deliver up to 266MW of clean electricity. It is our expectation that larger capacity turbines will be available at the time of the construction phase, which would allow for an even higher site capacity and community benefit fund.
Our current proposal includes:
NUMBER OF TURBINES | Up to 37 turbines
TURBINE HEIGHT | 16 turbines with a maximum tip height of 230m and 21 turbines with a maximum tip height of 250m
POTENTIAL ENERGY GENERATION | Approximately 259MW, which will provide electricity for approximately 207,000* homes
POTENTIAL ENERGY STORAGE | Approximately 106MW of battery storage
LIFESPAN | 40 years in operation

Benefiting Your Community
The Bodinglee project represents a huge opportunity to deliver transformational, positive local change. We anticipate that the community benefit package will be approximately £53 million over 40 years which has the potential to meaningfully improve the lives of local people.
Our vision for the site is not just to create a wind farm, but for Bodinglee to deliver sustainable, positive and transformative change for South Lanarkshire, Scotland and the green energy agenda as a whole. We believe that by working together with our local partners, we have developed a proposal that tackles the climate crisis and deliver lasting positive change for communities at the same time as caring for people and the local environment.
We are still keen to hear your views on the project and we continue to offer one-to-one, face-to-face or online meetings to members of the local communities. We would be very happy to meet you to answer your questions and talk though the details of the project. Book a face-to-face appointment today.
Shaping Community Benefits Together
We have been working in partnership with the communities surrounding Bodinglee with the aim of achieving sustainable social, economic and environmental benefits for the local area.
From our initial consultations, we’ve heard a strong desire to see big ideas that tackle local issues, as well as a need for co-ordinated strategies which benefit the whole of the area surrounding Bodinglee.
A number of core themes have emerged, and we are now at the stage where we are ready to share proposals that have been shaped by the views of the community. We plan to deliver the interventions for each theme and have put all these initiatives into three categories.
