Dozens of local residents have taken a first look at plans for a proposed new residential development in a North Yorkshire village.

Developer Banks Property is bringing forward plans for a new development to the north west of Hunmanby near Filey, which would see up to 125 homes being built on a five hectare site to the west of Muston Road.

The Milk Field development would include 15 per cent provision of affordable homes and a biodiversity net gain of at least ten per cent.

New areas of public open space and green corridors will be created within the site, with a range of different property types being built to meet different local needs.

Banks Property held a consultation event in the village to introduce its proposals to local people, with members of the project team on hand to speak to visitors about the proposals, answer any questions they may have and collect any feedback.

Visitors’ comments will now be factored into the project’s planning application that Banks Property is expecting to submit to North Yorkshire Council in the new year – and if it is approved, work could start on site by spring 2028.

Jamilah Hassan, community relations manager at the Banks Group, says: “We’re grateful to all the local people who took the time to meet us at our exhibition in Hunmanby and pleased with the many positive comments that we had about our plans.

“Feedback from local people is essential in helping us finalise our development designs and we’ll now be working the comments we received into the planning application that will be submitted to North Yorkshire Council in the new year.

“This will be a high-quality development in which we’re looking to create a range of sustainable, contemporary homes in a location that is well connected to local facilities and that will give more people the opportunity to stay in or move to the area.”
