You will be involved in supporting safe and efficient quarry operations by assisting with plant movements, basic servicing, and general site duties. This role helps maintain a clean, safe and productive working environment in line with company standards, procedures, and legal requirements.

The Labourer / Banksman will spend their working day at our open cast quarry site based in Newark.

  • Work safely at all times and operate machinery in a careful and efficient way.
  • Follow all site safety rules, traffic rules and company policies.
  • Only use plant and equipment that you are trained and authorised to operate.
  • Check your machine or vehicle before use and report any faults or damage straight away using the correct forms.
  • Keep your work area, vehicle, tools and equipment clean, tidy and in safe working order.
  • Check fluid and oil levels as required and top up correctly when needed.
  • Use non-operated plant and tools safely when asked to by your line manager.
  • Help with loading and unloading deliveries such as fuel, oils and parts.
  • Use pressure washers and other cleaning or processing equipment safely.
  • Work well with plant operators, drivers and managers to keep work running smoothly.
  • Carry out general labouring and cleaning duties as required to support site operations.
  • Use the site radio and Omnicheck system correctly to report issues or complete checks.

Site Manager, Deputy Site Manager, Mining Supervisors, Engineers, Plant Operators, Site Co-ordinator, Health & Safety Manager.

The company will provide the necessary training and assessments to support safe and competent working.

The post holder is expected to take part in ongoing training and refresher sessions as required.

DESIRABLE:

  • Prior experience working on or with large plant machinery.
  • Prior experience in surface mining or as a Banksman.
  • NPORS card.
  • CPCS/CSCS card.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Reliable, punctual and safety-focused.
  • Able to follow instructions and work with minimal supervision.
  • Positive attitude to safe and tidy working.
  • Willing to learn and take on new tasks.
  • Respectful and professional when dealing with others.
