Communication & marketing manager

As part of an innovative, talented, and collaborative team you will research, plan and deliver communication campaigns that encompass, explain and inform key audiences about the benefits our projects deliver with clear and consistent messaging using the most appropriate communications channels.

  1. To develop marketing communications plans to support the delivery of the business plan objectives of the Group’s property, homes, mining, plant, and mineral businesses.
  2. Ensure effective messaging and marketing is delivered to each priority target audience including customers, local communities, local politicians, MPs and MSPs, civil servants, local authority officers, regulators, employees, landowners, joint venture partners, business partners, the media and financial investors.
  3. Manage the delivery of marketing & communication plan activities in line with plans agreed in 1 above including:

 

PR and media relations

  • Managing external PR and digital marketing agencies to ensure a steady flow of positive news releases, media comments and social media posts relating to the company and our development proposals and sale of homes are published on appropriate print, digital, social and broadcast media.
  • Maintain effective relations with local and national journalists and editors and being prepared to act as a media spokesperson for the group where required.

Digital and social media

  • Manage, update and develop the Banks Group and Banks Homes web sites, intranet sites and social media channels.
  • Produce a comprehensive digital content plans to deliver a targeted programme of planned and reactive, engaging social media posts.
  • Produce live and recorded webinars and videos to explain our development proposals and seek community feedback on our plans.
  • Mange the production of video content to be shared on Banks Group and Banks Homes social and digital channels.
  • Manage all activities for email marketing, digital advertising (through agencies), print and media and direct mail.
  • Use google analytics, social media scheduling software and CRM system to report on results.

Marketing communications collateral

  • Manage the production of leaflets, brochures, newsletters, advertisements and exhibition material to effectively communicate the benefits of our projects, and to ensure the highest quality of sales and marketing of homes.
  • Overall responsibility for marketing as part of the development set-up meetings, site launches, and weekly plot releases.
  • Responsible for the briefing of all POS whilst ensuring content is displaying correctly online and in marketing suites at all times.
  • Arrange for interactive site plans to be produced working closely with sales and technical as well as floorplans, website copy, brochures, matterports etc.
  • Responsible for the production of local photography across product, location and PR.
  • Manage overall relationship with PR agencies, briefing press releases, blogs, arranging photography and events (where applicable).

Performance marketing

  • Responsible for planning and implementing media strategies ensuring targets are achieved.
  • Responsible for monitoring of advertising budgets as well as media production costs ensuring budget is spend efficiently as agreed by Head of Sales & marketing
  • Overall responsible for the management of customer data ensuring lead quality is maintained whilst continuously growing the database.
  • Management of data ensuring GDPR compliance is maintained
  • Continually update information for paid search campaigns.
  • Responsible for reporting all cost and advertising activity ensuring necessary tracking is set up and applied to digital media.

Events

  • Manage a programme of the Group’s sponsorship of community events, homes launch events, awards, festivals and open days.

Support for our communities

  • Promote the work that we do to support our local community groups, voluntary organisations and environmental projects through the Banks Community Fund.

Community relations

  • Provide support to other members of the community team as required with presentations, community surgeries, public exhibitions and attitude surveys.

Communication training

  • In association with other members of the community team deliver development with care, communication and presentation training sessions for Banks Group employees, to brief them about how and why we engage with local communities and how to effectively communicate the benefits of securing planning permissions for a wide range of stakeholders.

Corporate responsibility

  • Join the Group’s CR team which oversees the implementation of the Group’s approach to CR called development with care, produce the quarterly Banks CR Newsletter and join Banks Better Health at Work Team.

As part of a small community/communications team, you will be working alongside Banks project teams supporting all group businesses. You will also work closely with our graphic design team, external PR and digital marketing agencies creating content to communicate effectively with a range of external stakeholders including customers, local communities, local politicians, MPs and MSPs, civil servants, local authority officers, regulators, employees, landowners, joint venture partners, business partners and financial investors, and head of sales and marketing to sell homes.

Based at our office in Meadowfield near Durham City you will have regular travel requirements throughout the north of England. You will meet with a wide variety of people and may involve attendance at evening corporate events, meetings, workshops and exhibitions which may also require overnight stays.

ESSENTIAL:

  • Previous proven experience in a similar role
  • Educated to degree level, ideally with experience in journalism, PR, broadcast, communications or digital marketing
  • Competence in creating, implementing and analysing the effectiveness of a digital content strategy including the use of social media tools (we currently use Sprout Social) and interaction with online Facebook community pages, creation of blogs and thought leadership pieces, encouraging user-generated content, etc
  • Must have substantial knowledge of the internet including following current trends
  • Competent and able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of all social platforms
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills – spelling, punctuation, grammar, etc
  • Competent at using all MS Office packages, Canva
  • Strong presentation and written communication skills – spelling, punctuation, grammar
  • Knowledge of running digital marketing campaigns
  • Ability to use web content management systems, preferably WordPress,
  • Full UK driving licence

DESIRABLE:

  • Knowledge of video editing packages (Adobe Premier Pro)
  • Media trained and presenting in front of a camera and on the radio
  • High level of attention to detail with the ability to multitask
  • Ability to work independently, responsibly, and collaboratively
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Customer champion – good listener, consistently delivers on their commitments and promises
  • Comfortable with regular travel around the north of England, sometimes at short notice
