A North Yorkshire village is all set for its annual community get-together after securing backing for the event from a range of local businesses.

Hambleton Parish Council is hosting the fifth Jambleton event at the Old Lane Recreation Area on Saturday 13th June, with a wide range of family events, activities and stalls on show.

The first Jambleton event was organised in 2022 to mark HRH Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee and was judged such a success that it has since become the highlight of the village’s summer social calendar, with over 1,500 people attending last year’s event.

Developer the Banks Group is sponsoring Jambleton for the second time, along with other local business contributing to the event’s costs and many smaller companies sponsoring children’s events in support.

The Good Rhythm Drumming Circle will be opening proceedings at 1pm and will also be holding an open session later in the day to give visitors the chance to play a range of percussion instruments for themselves.

Several other bands will be performing through the day, while attractions will include inflatables, face painting, an ice cream van, charity stalls from our local hedgehog and beekeeping groups and around 20 stalls featuring a range of different craft items produced by local makers.

Banks Homes, which is currently building its Pastures residential development to the east of Gateforth Lane in Hambleton, is also lending pedestrian barriers to the Parish Council to help with keeping people safe at the event and so save on further costs.

Cllr Maria Ferris of Hambleton Parish Council says: “Jambleton has been a real hit with the community from the very beginning and has grown every year since, with more and more people coming along to enjoy everything that we put on, but as it’s grown, it’s naturally become increasingly costly to run.

“The support that Banks and our other business backers are providing means we can keep running Jambleton as a free event for local people and we can’t wait to welcome everyone along to this year’s festivities.”

Banks Homes is set to open its first show home at The Pastures in the near future, while it has also submitted a planning application to North Yorkshire Council for a second phase of development in Hambleton, which would see a further 75 new high-quality private and affordable family homes of different sizes and types being built to the east of The Pastures.

Kate Culverhouse, community relations manager at the Banks Group, says: “Jambleton is a brilliant community event and we’re very pleased to be able to once again help the Parish Council put on the best possible day that they can for local people.”
