Plans for the creation of a new community to the north west of Newcastle which have been updated in response to the comments and ideas of those living in surrounding areas are set to go on show next week.
Banks Property is looking to create the new Kingston Village, a multi-million pound development of around 900 new family homes on a 49-hectare site to the west of Brunton Lane which was allocated for housing in the 2015 Newcastle & Gateshead One Core Strategy.
The North East family-owned firm held three exhibitions in local communities in November to introduce the outline plans and to gather feedback from attendees on its various different elements.
Since then, the project team has been working on incorporating the feedback provided by more than 100 visitors to the exhibitions into the planning application that is expected to be submitted to Newcastle City Council in the coming months
A follow-up event has now been set up for between 3pm and 7.30pm on Monday 11 February at Newcastle Falcons’ Kingston Park ground, where the changes to the planning application that have been made in direct response to exhibition visitors’ ideas will be on display.
Alongside the new homes, the Kingston Village scheme will include a new primary school, a couple of retail units such as a convenience store and a coffee shop, allotments and the creation of large areas of high quality open space including a village green, giving it a unique community identity and also benefiting biodiversity.
It will also feature a network of public footpaths and cycle ways, including links to nearby Newcastle Great Park and Kingston Park, and will support the development of other local infrastructure and improved public transport links to benefit new and existing residents.
Banks Property is hoping to have its planning application considered by Newcastle City Council before the end of the year.
If it is approved, work would be due to start on the site by 2021 at the latest.
