Housebuilder Banks Homes has started work on creating its first residential development in North Yorkshire.
The Banks Homes team is now working on the development of The Pastures, which is located to the east of Gateforth Lane in Hambleton near Selby and which will include a range of three, four and five-bedroom homes, as well as two-bedroom bungalows.
And the housebuilder is now looking to bring further Yorkshire projects forward in the coming months as it ramps up its investment across the county.
More than 30 jobs will be directly supported during The Pastures’ construction period, with a further 45 jobs being indirectly supported and a range of contract opportunities being made available to businesses in the surrounding area in line with Banks’ longstanding policy of using local suppliers wherever possible.
New wildlife habitats and areas of public open space are also being created around the development to encourage and enhance local biodiversity.
Nine different property types from the Banks Homes range will feature at The Pastures, with the first show home expected to be ready to open in spring next year and the first homes scheduled to be ready for occupation by next summer.
Hambleton was the first site to be announced in Yorkshire by Banks Homes, which was launched by family-owned developer the Banks Group in 2023 and which is now focusing on sites of all sizes across Yorkshire and North East England.
It recently submitted a planning application to North Yorkshire Council for a second phase of development in Hambleton, which would see a further 75 new high-quality private and affordable family homes of different sizes and types being built to the east of The Pastures.
Rob Ormrod, land director and head of the Banks Group’s Yorkshire office, says: “Yorkshire is a key part of Banks Homes’ growth strategy and getting to work on our first site in the county is an important landmark for the business.
“The Pastures is a high-quality development which will give more local people and families a greater opportunity to stay in the village, while the creation of new wildlife habitats and new areas of public open space around the development will encourage and enhance local biodiversity.
“We have plans in place to make significant investments in a range of new projects in Yorkshire in the coming years and are excited by the opportunities to meet the increasingly-urgent need to enhance the supply of quality homes available across the county.
“Last year’s changes to the National Planning Policy Framework are supporting our drive to provide more people with the housing options they need in the places they want to live and will help us to contribute to meeting the government’s targets for future economic growth, as well as our own.”
Aisling Ramshaw, sales and marketing director at Banks Homes, adds: “We are delighted with the response we have had from customers so far as we bring our first Banks Homes to Yorkshire
“We held a launch event last month and have already taken reservations on the first ten homes.”
