Tudhoe

Creating new family homes in Tudhoe, County Durham

Banks Property want to share with you our plans for a development of around 350 dwellings on a 15-hectare site to the east of Tudhoe and north east of Spennymoor, as well as give you the opportunity to provide feedback and ask any questions you might have. Our proposals look to bring forward a high quality and attractive addition to the village of Tudhoe, west of the A167 and north of York Hill Road. Banks Property plan to build a mix of sustainable houses and bungalows within a sensitively designed development incorporating sustainable features such as air source heat pumps and solar panels along with electric vehicle charging points at every home.

Key Project Facts – Tudhoe

  • Around 350 high-quality, energy-efficient homes designed to reflect and enhance the character of the local area

  • A diverse mix of house types, including bungalows, to meet a range of local housing needs

  • 15% affordable housing, helping more people access a home in Tudhoe

  • Homes to be built with sustainability in mind, featuring electric vehicle charging points and a sustainable surface water drainage system

Why Tudhoe?

There is both a local and national need for new housing, and Tudhoe offers a sustainable and well-connected location to help meet that demand.
The site has been carefully assessed and is considered suitable due to its proximity to existing services, including local schools, community amenities, and nearby towns.

The development would:

  • Provide new, high-quality family homes, including affordable housing, giving local people a chance to remain in the village.

  • Offer a range of property types to meet diverse community needs, from first-time buyers to families.

  • Support local shops, schools, and services through increased spending from new residents.

  • Help address housing shortages that otherwise push people to relocate away from their community.

Draft masterplan

Following initial assessments that have been undertaken, a draft site layout has been developed. The site layout will be developed further following feedback from our community consultations and once further assessment work has been completed.
