
Killingworth Moor South (Phase 1)
Bellway and Banks Property submitted a planning application for 539 homes in Killingworth in October 2020. Killingworth Moor South is part of the Killingworth Moor Masterplan, which looks to bring forward much needed homes in North Tyneside.
Killingworth Moor was allocated in the 2015 Draft North Tyneside Local Plan Consultation as a key strategic site to contribute towards the borough’s objectively assessed needs for housing provision that will deliver approximately 2,000 new homes and over 10 hectares of green open space at Killingworth Moor. Killingworth Moor South is one the first phases of this strategic site to be brought forward.

Economic benefits
- Over £900,000 council tax revenue every year to North Tyneside Council to spend on improvements and essential services within the area
- New homes bonus (paid by the Government) spread over six years, of about £3.6 million
- £100m investment in the region during construction
- It will directly support an around 150 full time jobs per year over the seven-year construction period
- An estimated additional £2.4m spend for local shops and services from families moving into the area
Environmental benefits
The homes will be built to high modern standards of energy efficiency with low energy footprints. The site also benefits from over over 10 hectares of open green space for local people and wildlife to enjoy.
Social benefits
The project will generate new, high quality family homes help to retain families within the local area which supports local services, as well as a new spine road from Great Lime Road. It will provide affordable homes to help young families get on the property ladder, in the area where they grew up and the new homes will attract new families to the area too, increasing the spend in the local economy and strengthening the existing community. It will also maintain and create public footpaths and useable public open space.
