Project Description
The former golf course and prestigious city centre site is being developed for new executive and family homes in this central Durham area. David Wilson Homes and Bellway Homes are currently building and selling high quality homes on part of the site.

Durham University has built new student accommodation on the site too (John Snow College and South College). There will be a dedicated space for new amenities to serve the local community such as a doctor’s surgery or convenience store. There will also be improved public access across the site with a new network of footpaths set in high quality landscape corridors. Options for the Grade II listed Manor House is going to be a prestigious County Archive and Registry Office. Other future developments include redevelopment of the historic Gate Houses, further student accommodation and housing.

The Mount Oswald Manor House was built around 1830.  It is now a Grade II listed building. The land around was used as a golf course in recent years – with the Manor House acting as the club house, bar, restaurant, changing rooms and storage.

There is local construction employment opportunities throughout the construction phases.

Social Benefits 
As well as much needed housing this project will allow the public access to new open spaces as well as convenience shop(s).

Environment Benefits
These include the creation of 25 acres of public open space throughout the site, including a seven acre park, and five equipped children’s play areas close to housing areas.
