15% affordable housing
West Brunton
We’re delighted that Newcastle City Council’s planning committee has backed plans to realise our vision for a high-quality new residential community at West Brunton, within the Newcastle Great Park area. The proposals were recommended for approval by the city council’s planning officers before being supported by members of the planning committee.
This carefully designed development will deliver up to 73 high-quality new homes on a 4.5-hectare site identified as a Neighbourhood Growth Area within Newcastle’s Local Plan, helping to meet the growing demand for family housing in the city.
The West Brunton site will bring a series of benefits to both new and existing communities, including:
- Up to 73 high-quality new homes in a sustainable and well-connected location
- 15% affordable housing, supporting local housing needs
- New play areas and accessible open space for residents and families
- A new footpath and cycle route linking the development to Brunton Lane, improving connectivity
- A minimum 10% biodiversity net gain, delivering environmental enhancements and new habitats
- A sustainable urban drainage system designed to manage surface water and support the local environment
- Contributions to local primary education and special educational needs provision
- Contributions supporting local parks, allotments and nature reserves
- New employment opportunities during construction and across the local supply chain
Following planning approval, the project team will now move forward with finalising the detailed development proposals ahead of the next stage of the project.

Grants of up to £2,000 can be applied for and we would welcome your applications or recommendations for worthy projects that could benefit from this funding.
