Telehandler Operator

In this role you will support the daily operation of the construction site through ensuring the ensuring trades on site are supplied with the correct materials in order to meet the build programme. You will also liaise with couriers, delivery drivers and the site Materials Controller to ensure deliveries are offloaded and stored in the correct manner and distributed to the correct trades thereafter in accordance with the construction programme and instruction from the site management.
You will be expected to:
- Regularly communicate with site management to keep up to date with any changes to the construction programme.
- Advise site management of any shortages of blocks and bricks and level of silo mix so that the build programme is not delayed due to material shortage.
- Ensure all deliveries are checked for quality and the correct quantity when delivered and record any defective or short deliveries to site management where applicable.
- Store and label materials correctly in the store areas supplied as advised.
- Ensure that any waste materials are loaded into the correct site skips so the waste control can be managed correctly.
- Advise the site management of any defective/damaged materials when collecting or loading out of materials.
- Ensure that the forklift is inspected daily for maintenance purposes and weekly inspections are recorded.
- Ensure the forklift is clean and roadworthy at all times and carry out routine maintenance.
- Any plant attachments i.e. road brush are inspected on a weekly basis and recorded.
- Ensure that safe working practices are adhered to at all times and report any issues directly to the site management.
- Ensure that all materials loaded out on platforms allow for the loading bay gates to be closed at all times.
- Carry out labouring duties as and when required.
You will work closely site management to ensure the build programme is achieved.
You will spend the majority of your time initially on a house building development at West Rainton.
ESSENTIAL:
- Valid certification to operator forklifts e.g CPCS card
- Must have extensive previous experience of working as a telehandler/fork lift operator
- Previous experience of working on large volume residential house building sites
- Ability to work unsupervised and to use own initiative appropriately
- Full UK driving licence
- Health and Safety Awareness
- Attention to detail and familiarity with industrial equipment
