Finance Manager (Property / Homes)

Due to the growth and expansion within our Banks Property and Banks businesses we are looking for an additional Finance Manager to support the team.
Do you have significant previous experience in similar role, fully qualified in any one of ACA/ACCA/CIMA and highly proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel and other Finance systems. Then this job could be for you.
You will provide critical commercial financial support to the Banks Group’s Property and Homes divisions in the form of property project appraising, contract negotiations, deal structuring, effective financial reporting and business partnering. The Property and Homes divisions includes the Property Development business, the House Building business and related activities.
Appraisal, forecasting and planning
- Regular review, support and challenge of site appraisals for all projects in the portfolio, highlighting to management and/or the board variances to project budget or programme and supporting developments and improvements.
- Supporting Project Managers with monthly project updates and project cashflows and ensuring the project strategy and spend is in line with internal key review processes and business plan targets.
- Preparation of the business plans and provision of quarterly updates regarding progress towards short, medium and longer-term business targets.
- Production of regular detailed forecasts for the current and subsequent years.
- Producing, appraising, modelling and rolling out business plans and models relating to new initiatives.
- Development of Key Performance Indicators and performance monitoring thereon.
- Appraisal of new projects and existing projects for key stages and input into key review reports.
Financial reporting
- Preparation of monthly management accounts, balance sheets and cash flow reports, including rolling re-forecasting, to strict period end timetable.
- Preparation of monthly board packs incorporating analysis of actual and projected performance.
- Preparation of annual statutory accounts with supporting schedules and liaising with external auditors.
Management support
- Supporting Project Managers and Planners with their financial appraisals and site development activities providing financial advice throughout the entire lifecycle of the various projects undertaken by the business.
- Provide critical analysis and challenge to assumptions used and support in identifying project risks and value opportunities.
- Support development teams in new ways of thinking.
Systems development
- Assisting in the evolution of the current financial models and tools to support management.
- Develop and refine reports and management accounts for the House Building division as it grows.
The role will report directly to the Group Finance Director by way of daily conversations to discuss and address specific requirements. The role will also entail direct interaction with managers and staff within the Banks Property and Banks Homes divisions.
- You are central to both the finance team and the Banks Group’s Property and House Building division team.
- You may be required to assist other members of the finance team when necessary.
- You will based in the Meadowfield office but from time to time may require travel to other offices and to property sites across the North of England, Yorkshire and Scotland.
- Direct interaction with staff throughout the Group, at all levels, will be required.
ESSENTIAL:
- Professional accountancy qualification (ACA/CIMA/ACCA).
- Broad financial and tax knowledge, including understanding of project accounting.
- Strong IT and financial analysis skills including the ability to interpret data and assess impacts on the business.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel including advanced aspects.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to adapt personal style to different audiences.
DESIRABLE:
- Experience in a commercial advisory role.
- Experience with COINs ERP system.
- Experience of Property development or House Building.
- Experience of working with external auditors.
- Experience of working with, and making improvements to, management accounts.
- Full driving licence.
- You are self-motivated, enthusiastic, inquisitive and detail oriented.
- You can work with all levels of teams and constructively work with them as a business partner finding both solutions to problems and supporting development of new ideas.
- You must be able to confidently and productively challenge assumptions, strategies and variances from budget with senior management. Excellent communication skills are therefore essential.
- You must have excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritise tasks.
