The Banks Group develops, with care, land for a variety of uses including surface coal mining; property and renewable energy. It is a family owned, County Durham based, business employing around 360 people across the north of England and Scotland.
Banks Mining, part of The Banks Group, has over 40 years’ experience in surface coal mining with an excellent reputation for the innovative and successful operation of sites through our development with care approach. Our modern plant fleet has been developed to enable us to work sites safely, responsibly and efficiently, meeting and surpassing both high environmental standards and challenging production targets.
An opportunity has arisen for plant operators at our sites in Northumberland: Shotton and Brenkley Lane, see: http://www.banksgroup.co.uk/projects/mining/shotton/ and http://www.banksgroup.co.uk/projects/mining/brenkley-lane-surface-mine/
Plant operators are required to operate large earthmoving machines to include:
- Rigid and articulated dump trucks from 40 – 200 tonnes

Plant operators will operate the category of plant allocated by the site management team and contained within their Banks Licence in a safe, responsible and efficient manner to achieve all targets set. The plant operator will spend the vast majority of their working day in a surface mining site operating heavy machinery. Contact and communication is largely via two way radio with the production management team.
Applications are invited from candidates who have the ability to concentrate during long working periods, effectively communicate using the communication devices issued and have safety and environmental awareness.
