Banks Renewables’ currently operates ten onshore wind farms that provide around 223MW of renewable electricity generating capacity across Scotland and the north of England. Whilst our success to date has been onshore wind farms, BRL have obtained consent for two solar farms and continue to diversify with battery storage and other flexible energy generation sites. We are creative innovators and incorporate the latest technical solutions in our designs.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Development Surveyor to join the team. You will be part of the solution and make a demonstrable contribution to Scotland and the UK’s decarbonisation targets. You will be given responsibility from day one – play a key part in the delivery of the Renewables Business Plan.

1) Work with the team to identify and assess new renewable generation and flexible energy projects for the company across the United Kingdom.
2) Help prepare the initial development concept, identify, and approach landowners and agree site and individual negotiating strategies with the BDM.
3) Work with the development team to prepare internal key decision documents.
4) Develop and maintain a clear appreciation for the geographical, planning, technical and political factors that will affect the outcome of relevant projects.
5) Liaise with the wider BRL team members to support delivery of projects.
6) Liaise with landowners, agents, and solicitors to ensure that agreements and/or contractual responsibilities are continually progressed to completion within the Business Plan Programme.
7) Conform to the Banks Quality Project Management System as it relates to the job.
8) On occasion, represent the Company at liaison meetings and landowner meetings etc., out with normal working hours.
9) Work with the wider BRL team members to achieve both individual and the Company’s Key Financial and Non-Financial targets.


1) Provide effective support to the business development team to aid progression of prospects to key decision stages.
2) Assist with the identification of new renewable energy sites which are located out with significant technical constraints and with good planning prospects
3) Ensure commercial value of project is always maximised
4) Ensure all new sites have a clear, understood deliverable strategy
5) Ensure sufficient resources are made available to projects to avoid delay or reduction in quality


The role will report directly to the Business Development Manager. Contact will be with Renewables team members, with regular exposure to external parties as described above.


The role will be based at the Hamilton office in Scotland with visits to the Banks Offices in Meadowfield/Yorkshire as required.
Extensive travel will be required across Scotland and Northern England.


• Graduate or equivalent (or working towards), with experience or qualifications in surveying, geography, renewable energy or other related degree.
• Full UK driving licence.

• Work experience in the energy or property sector or wider experience of the office environment
• An appreciation of emerging opportunities in the Renewables Industry.
• Looking to work towards a professional accreditation (e.g. RICS).
• Experience with GIS software.
• Based in the Central Belt.
