Applications Development Analyst

Working in a small team and reporting to the Head of IT, the position of Applications Development Analyst is to provide support and development for the applications within the Banks Group.

The role includes a large element of application development but also includes working with the Senior Applications Development Analysts in the design, specification, testing and support of those applications. As part of this, you will need to develop a deep knowledge of the business to analyse and improve efficiency of processes.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Applications Support

Working with the Senior Applications Development Analysts and the Infrastructure and Support Teams to support the Banks Group application landscape.

This includes both internally developed and commercially sourced applications.

Applications Development

Working with the Senior Applications Development Analysts to:

• Extend the functionality of the Banks Application estate
• Develop code in a variety of environments including reports, business forms
database tables and views, scripting, data input forms and user interface
• Documentation of programming code and database schemes
• Create end user manuals and training materials
• Business Process Analysis
• Identify inefficient business processes and assist operational management teams in
end user training and education
• Database Administration and Security

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

The individual would be joining a small team who work in a collaborative and close-knit environment where a desire to learn and grow both in terms of IT and product knowledge is encouraged

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

The role would suit someone with software development experience who is looking to gain more control over all aspects of the lifecycle. You will need strong coding skills but also the flexibility to work in an environment of continuous change/ambiguity, including priority changes.

You should be very organised with good time management, an investigative nature and logical approach to problem solving and ability/tenacity to drive issues to conclusion.

ESSENTIAL:

• Software development
• HTML
• Javascript
• SQL – script, stored procedures, table structures and indexes
• VB.Net and/or C#.net

DESIRABLE:

• Education to Degree and/or equivalent experience in a computing related discipline
• Working in an applications development environment
• Technical authoring – user guides and code documentation
• JQuery
• Microsoft Azure DevOps / Office 365 / SharePoint

PERSONAL QUALITIES/COMPETENCIES:

• Initiative to add value and enhance current systems and processes
• Ability to think outside the box and problem solve
• Working as part of a team in a time constrained and pressured environment
• Internal Customer interaction with a focus upon delivery and a strong customer service ethic
• Excellent interpersonal skills to enable effective communication within the IT team
• High level of literacy to enable the preparation of effective and accurate documentation
• Intellectual capacity to understand and document business process concepts
• Ability to demonstrate strong attention to detail, exercises sound judgement and composure under pressure
• Logical planning ability. Ability to concentrate on different tasks at the same time and prioritise accordingly
• Confident, a self-starter, with the ability to operate in a dynamic challenging environment whist remaining flexible and responsive

The deadline for applications is 31 January 2020. Interview process comprises of first stage face to face interview which will be held w/c 3 February 2020. Successful candidates will be invited for second stage face to face interview with Personal Profile Analysis.
