A community orchard, wildflower meadows and new allotments are all set to form part of a proposed new residential development to the south of Barton-upon-Humber.

Banks Property has been developing proposals for a 26.3 hectare site to the east of the A15 and south of Horkstow Road which would include up to 390 high-quality homes of different sizes and types, including affordable housing and bungalows.

“Increasing the supply of quality housing is a crucial part of ensuring people can choose to move to or stay in the places where they want to live."

The family firm has been holding a series of public engagement activities on the proposals over the last few months, with the feedback received from local people and community leaders being factored into the evolving project plans.

John Ruddick, senior property development manager at Banks Property, says: “Gathering local people’s views is a central part of the development of all our proposals, and we’ve done everything possible in the current circumstances to make information about our plans easily accessible and to enable local people to express their views and ideas about them.

“The feedback that we’ve had on the sorts of community, environmental and transport enhancements that local people would like to see delivered through the development, as well as on the make-up of the development itself, has been extremely useful and we’re very grateful to all those who took the time to give us their thoughts.

“Increasing the supply of quality housing is a crucial part of ensuring people can choose to move to or stay in the places where they want to live, and we hope that the members of North Lincolnshire Council’s planning committee will recognise all the benefits that this project can deliver for the local community.”

“Our goal has been to design a development in Barton in consultation with the local community that brings a range of economic, employment, environmental, supply chain and social benefits to the area, and we believe that the plans we have put forward achieve this objective.

“Increasing the supply of quality housing is a crucial part of ensuring people can choose to move to or stay in the places where they want to live, and we hope that the members of North Lincolnshire Council’s planning committee will recognise all the benefits that this project can deliver for the local community.”
