A determined team of mudlarks from North East property and energy firm The Banks Group have conquered a daunting physical challenge to raise money for their charity of the year.
Eleven employees and five of their friends at the Durham-headquartered firm took on the Tough Mudder Yorkshire event at Broughton Hall in Skipton, which involved tackling over 20 obstacles along a 12 mile course made up of challenging hills, dark woodlands, deep bogs and thick mud.
And despite everything that the course could throw at them, all the team members made it to the finishing line, raising over £2,000 through their efforts for The Tiny Lives Trust.
Tiny Lives, which supports premature and sick newborn babies and their families across the region, was chosen by the Banks team as their charity of the year for 2016, and the proceeds of the Tough Mudder run has taken the total raised for it past £5,000.
Lewis Stokes, community relations manager at the Banks Group, who was part of the Tough Mudder team, says: “There are obviously more relaxing ways to spend a summer’s afternoon, but the camaraderie and team spirit between everyone made taking on the Tough Mudder course a lot of fun, and we’re all pleased and proud to have made it all the way round.”
