Banks Group staff double up for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research

April 8, 2014 | Brenkley News

Workers at North East property and energy firm the Banks Group have redoubled their fundraising efforts for the Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research charity after choosing to adopt it as their dedicated charity for the second consecutive year.

Employees at the Durham-based firm raised £4,000 for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research during 2012 – and after choosing to retain it as their charity focus for 2013, they’ve now added a further £4,000 to the charity’s pot.

Staff from across Banks’ different businesses and locations joined in a range of fundraising activities throughout the year, including workplace lunches, raffles and competitions.

Several of the fundraisers gathered at the company’s Brenkley Lane surface mine in South East Northumberland to present the money they’d raised to Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research’s Regional Fundraising Manager for the North, Catriona Tait.

Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research is the only UK charity solely dedicated to improving the lives of patients with all types of blood cancer, including leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma.

Its life-saving research is focused on finding causes, improving diagnosis and treatments, and running groundbreaking clinical trials for all blood cancer patients.

Catriona Tait says: “Many thanks to everyone at The Banks Group for the wonderful fundraising and support for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research throughout 2012 and 2013. We are delighted that Banks Group chose to extend their support and fundraising for us for a second year in 2013. The fantastic total of £8,000.00 raised is a terrific contribution to our work to beat blood cancer.”

Mark Dowdall, environment and community director at Banks, adds: “Along with many of my colleagues at Banks Group we have loved ones who have been affected by leukaemia and lymphoma, so there was a real drive to do as much as we could across the team, and we’re really pleased to have matched last year’s total.”
