A planning application for a test wind mast on the site of a proposed new wind farm to the west of Bradford has been approved by Bradford Metropolitan District Council’s planning committee.
Banks Renewables, part of the Banks Group, is currently developing plans for the proposed Thornton Moor scheme, which would be situated on moorland to the south of the town of Denholme.
The company is looking to invest around £12.5 million in the creation of the wind farm, which is expected to encompass up to four turbines. Read the rest of this entry »

Plans for a proposed new wind farm in south Cumbria are set to be revealed at a public exhibition taking place next week.
Banks Renewables has just commenced a public engagement programme around the proposed Killington scheme, which would be situated on land between the A684 Sedbergh Road and Junction 37 of the M6.
Part of the proposed site is owned by Killington Educational Foundation and Killington United Charities, and both organisations would benefit directly from revenues generated by the new wind farm if it is approved. Read the rest of this entry »

Families and businesses across East Ayrshire are to be consulted over new wind farm plans by a company which has built a reputation for its considerate approach to development.
Banks Renewables is organising a series of public exhibitions where it will showcase outline plans for two wind farm sites at High Cumnock and Lethans.
The events, running during June, will kick off an extensive public consultation process, with the Banks Renewables team taking on board all feedback from the communities around the proposed sites.

Updated plans for a proposed surface mine in south east Northumberland which have been developed in conjunction with a panel of local people have been revealed.
In early 2010, regional firm Banks Mining put forward initial plans for the proposed Ferneybeds site, which is located to the south of the village of Widdrington Station, around eight miles north west of Ashington, and initiated an extensive public engagement programme to ensure all interested parties could see and comment on the proposals. A senior north east planning expert has welcomed Government changes to the planning system that provide positive encouragement for a sustainable approach to development work.
Philip Baker, planning director at regional energy and property firm the Banks Group, was speaking after the publication of the new National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF), which has been designed to simplify and clarify the UK planning system for all parties involved with development work.
The Framework includes a ‘presumption in favour of sustainable development,’ as well as guiding principles for achieving sustainable development, the protection and enhancement of the natural and historic environments, and the approach to be used in making decisions on new developments. Considerate developer Banks Renewables has won backing from council planners for a wind farm which would provide around £8.9 million of funding for nearby rural communities.
The Hamilton-based company is a step closer to realising plans for a wind farm at Kype Muir, south of Strathaven after it was supported by South Lanarkshire Council.

All-action TV presenter Helen Skelton has been wowed by the north east’s newest landmark after visiting the region to undertake a slightly more gentle challenge than she’s been used to recently.
Having completing a 500-mile trek to the South Pole for Sport Relief in January this year, the same charity for which she kayaked more than 2,000 miles down the Amazon in 2010, Helen has now put her mark on the north east countryside by carrying out some landscaping work on the new Northumberlandia landform, to the west of Cramlington.
