Middle Muir was granted planning permission by the Scottish Government Energy Consents and Deployment Unit, as was, in September 2014. Enabling works started in August 2016 and the main construction work for the wind farm began in April 2017. Construction work was completed in December 2018 and the wind farm is now fully operational. In 2023 a planning application to extend to the permitted lifespan of Middle Muir Wind Farm was approved by the Energy Consents Unit (ECU) securing the ability to operate the site for up to 40 years.

Throughout the construction and site investigation phases we were fully committed to maximising local resources and expertise and wherever possible, appointed local companies to undertake the work.

See the Middle Muir News section for more information on local suppliers who we have used. This is a key commitment which has been set out in the Connect2Renewables charter.
