Brenkley Lane Surface Mine
Brenkley Lane surface mine is an operational site which lies between Newcastle City Council and Northumberland City Council. Banks Mining started extracting coal from this site in 2010. The site covers around 244 hectares of land. There is approximately 3 million tonnes of coal to be recovered and the site supports over 58 jobs directly.
The Brenkley Lane site has a dedicated community benefits fund specifically targeted at areas surrounding the site. To apply for a grant please click here for an application form.
